This day is the anniversary of the death of Rabbi Meshulam Zushia of Anipoli (1718?-1800), a student of the second leader of the Hasidic movement, Rabbi Dovber of Mezritch.
Despite his great erudition and piety, the quality that distinguished Rabbi Zushia from others was his extreme simplicity.
One of his sayings: "When I go to heaven (after one hundred and twenty years) they are not going to ask me why you were not like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but they are going to ask me why you were not like Zushia?"
