{"id":1539,"date":"2012-12-13T16:52:45","date_gmt":"2012-12-13T19:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jabadlaplata.org.ar\/?page_id=1539"},"modified":"2016-02-17T22:56:21","modified_gmt":"2016-02-18T01:56:21","slug":"shmini-atzeret-simjat-tora","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tuviaserber.com\/en\/festividades\/shmini-atzeret-simjat-tora\/","title":{"rendered":"Shmini Atzeret \/ Simchat Torah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/jabadlaplata.org.ar\/pics\/par00071.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>The reading of Shmini Atzeret and Simchat Torah details the laws of the <i>Moadim<\/i>, The special moments in the Jewish calendar that involve a celebration of our union with God; including the precepts of dwelling in a Sukkah (a booth roofed with leaves and branches) and taking the &quot;Four Species&quot; at the festival of Sukkot; the offerings brought to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem during the festival of Sukkot; and the obligation to travel to the Temple to &quot;see and be seen before God&quot; at the three annual festivals and pilgrimages: Pesach, Shavuot, and Sukkot. <\/p>\n<p>On Simchat Torah (&quot;The Joy of the Torah&quot;) we conclude, and begin again, the annual cycle of Torah reading. <\/p>\n<p>First, we read the section Vezot Habraj\u00e1, which recounts the blessings Moses bestowed upon each of the twelve tribes of Israel before his death. Similar to Jacob&#039;s blessings upon his twelve sons five generations earlier, Moses assigns and empowers each tribe for its role within the community of Israel. Then Vezot Habraj\u00e1 relates how Moses ascended Mount Nebo, from where he viewed the Promised Land. And Moses, the servant of God, died there in the Land of Moab at God&#039;s command...and no one knows his burial place to this day.
