The Israelites found themselves trapped between Pharaoh&#039;s army and the sea. God told Moses to raise his staff over the water; the sea parted to allow the Israelites to pass through, and then closed over the Egyptians. Moses and the Israelites sang a song of praise and thanksgiving to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the desert, the people suffer from thirst and hunger and repeatedly complain to Moses and Aaron. God miraculously sweetens the bitter waters of Marah, and then causes Moses to draw water from a rock by striking it with his staff; He makes manna descend from heaven before the dew each morning, only to disappear from the Israelite camp by night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Children of Israel are instructed to gather a double portion of manna on Fridays, because it will not fall on the Sabbath, the day of rest decreed by God. Some disobey and go out to gather manna on the seventh day, but find nothing.
