Muchos lugares pueden ser definidos como un desierto desolado desde la perspectiva jud\u00eda. Son aquellos lugares que no cuentan con instituciones de Tor\u00e1 como corresponde, donde a veces es dif\u00edcil conseguir alimentos Kasher, donde los vientos que soplan all\u00ed no son los de la Tor\u00e1 y la santidad. Desde el punto de vista material, puede tratarse de para\u00edsos florecientes, pero en lo que se refiere a la espiritualidad jud\u00eda son desiertos desolados\u00bb.\u00bbUn jud\u00edo que por alguna circunstancia llega a un lugar como este podr\u00eda pensar que en estas condiciones no tiene la posibilidad de cuidar un estilo de vida jud\u00edo de Tor\u00e1 verdadero. Puede que en un principio haga concesiones en cosas que a \u00e9l le parecen lujos\u00bb extravagantes de lo espiritual, y de a poco puede llegar a resignar tambi\u00e9n a temas esenciales, sin los cuales un jud\u00edo no puede sobrevivir como tal. Su percepci\u00f3n es que: \u00ab\u00a1Aqu\u00ed es diferente! En este lugar uno no puede comportarse como en un ambiente de Tor\u00e1 genuino\u00bb.<\/p>\n
IN THE HEART OF DESOLATION<\/p>\n
However, when we study the weekly Torah portion, Numbers (Bamidbar), we clearly understand how misguided this approach is. The portion recounts how the service of transporting the portable Sanctuary\u2014the Mishkan\u2014and its contents was divided among the families of the Levites. The Torah describes how Israel's journeys in the desert were conducted and how the Mishkan was erected at each location where the Jews camped. When we reflect on this, a profound sense of wonder arises.<\/p>\n
Did all this not take place in a desert, in the heart of desolation!<\/p>\n
How is it possible that in a desolate desert, in a place where there is no life, and not to mention any memory of Judaism and holiness, the Jews can carry the Sanctuary with them on all their journeys, and immediately upon arriving at any place, erect the Mishkan there, and immediately transform it into a holy place suitable for serving Hashem?!<\/p>\n
HOLINESS IS NOT LIMITED<\/p>\n
The Torah teaches us here that the Most High does not limit the power of holiness to these or any other conditions. Wherever a Jew goes, even if it is a desolate desert, whether physical or spiritual, he possesses all the power to build a Sanctuary for God, to sanctify the place, and to spread the light of the Torah and its commandments throughout the region.<\/p>\n
All you have to do is allow the light of your inner holiness, that of your Divine soul, to guide and illuminate the path, and you will immediately see how obstacles and disturbances disappear, until you reach the Land of Israel - the space of holiness.<\/p>\n
THE STRENGTH OF WOMEN<\/p>\n
This concept we are learning\u2014the establishment of a Sanctuary in the middle of the desert\u2014while applicable to all sectors of the Jewish people, has a special connection to women. For the construction of this Sanctuary, women were summoned, and they came first, before the men, to participate in its building. This shows us the special role of Jewish women in raising the Sanctuary for Hashem.<\/p>\n
Las mujeres jud\u00edas, en quienes se deposit\u00f3 la responsabilidad de educar a las pr\u00f3ximas generaciones, est\u00e1n a cargo de las caracter\u00edsticas y el estilo de la casa jud\u00eda, y constituyen el centro del hogar (la mujer se llama \u00abakeret habait\u00bb, del t\u00e9rmino ikar, que quiere decir lo principal de la casa) tienen como deber fundamental fijar la base jud\u00eda en todo lugar d\u00f3nde llegue la familia.
