In this week's parashah, we learn about Jacob, who married Leah and Rachel, two sisters. Our sages explain that the patriarchs safeguarded the entire Torah even before it was given, so: How could Jacob marry two sisters (something forbidden in Leviticus 18:18)?

Note: In Rambam's Laws of Kings, chapter 8, he explains that the Noahides are prohibited from six relationships: mother, father's wife, wife of another man, maternal half-sister, male homosexuality, and bestiality. The Rebbe indicates in this talk (p. 145) that the logical reason for the prohibition against marrying two sisters is that there is a natural love between sisters that could be compromised if both are married to the same man. He even cites an opinion (in footnote 21) that indicates this prohibition for the Noahides. But it is a debatable matter. This does not mean that a Noahide should consider marrying two sisters, but rather that the discussion, if he does so, is whether it is acceptable according to the Torah or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
