Once the house is completely clean and ready for Passover, it's time to perform the ritual of searching for and destroying the leavened bread. At nightfall, the family gathers, a candle is lit, and the appropriate blessing, printed in the prayer books, is recited.<\/p>\n
A thorough search is conducted for all traces of Chametz that may have remained after the cleaning, both in the house and in the car, and everything found is put in a bag to be burned the next day.<\/p>\n
Before the search, it is customary to save ten small pieces of Chametz, wrapped in paper and hidden throughout the house, to be found later during the search.<\/p>\n
At the end of the search, the following text is recited:\u00a0Bitul<\/em>, annulment of the Chametz not found (this does not include Chametz that one left to eat the next day).<\/p>\n The day before Passover is the last day to sell the chametz that was stored for after Passover. Chametz may be eaten until the fifth hour of the day, and by the sixth hour, all chametz must have been destroyed, voided, or sold.
