Matzah is more than just food; it's how we relive the Exodus. It's the only mitzvah we have today that we can actually eat and digest. According to Kabbalistic teachings, on the first night of Passover, matzah strengthens faith in God, while on the second night it has healing powers.<\/p>\n
Not all Matzot are the same; below are some "models":<\/p>\n
"Rich" Matzah\"
\nThis is matzah prepared with fruit juices, egg, and other extra ingredients. It may have been made for Passover, but it shouldn't be used at the Seder.<\/p>\n
Shmurah Matzah
\nThis is Matzah made with flour that was carefully kept from coming into contact with any moisture from the time of its harvest (or at least from the time of milling).<\/p>\n
Handmade Shmurah Matzah
\nThis matzah is made with the same flour as the previous one, but by hand. The difference (beyond its shape, which is square because it was machine-made, and this one is round) lies in the people who kneaded and baked it. They did so with the intention of preparing matzah to fulfill the mitzvah of eating matzah at the Passover Seder.
