In this week's section, Vaer\u00e1 (I was shown), the Torah begins with the account of the Exodus from Egypt, including seven of the ten plagues, all conversations between Moses and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. However, before these accounts, there is a verse that, seemingly, serves no purpose and is merely secondary information. First, a brief introduction:<\/p>\n
At the end of the previous section, Moses began diplomatic negotiations to free the Jewish people, but these were unsuccessful because Pharaoh refused to let them leave. Furthermore, the situation worsened: Pharaoh ordered the Jewish people to increase their hard labor. Moses complained to God, saying that not only had He failed to save the Jewish people, but they were now worse off than before. In response to this complaint, in this week's section, God reaffirmed His promise and commanded Moses to perform miracles and bring plagues upon Pharaoh.<\/p>\n
Ahora bien, en el vers\u00edculo en Shmot 6:9, posterior a la conversaci\u00f3n entre Di-s y Moshe y anterior a las tratativas entre Moshe y Par\u00f3, la Tor\u00e1 nos dice que Moshe llev\u00f3 al respuesta de Di-s, con la promesa de libertad al pueblo jud\u00edo y \u00e9stos \u00abNo escucharon a Moshe, por el corto aliento y el trabajo pesado\u00bb. Despue\u015b, la Tor\u00e1 no menciona m\u00e1s ning\u00fan intercambio entre Moshe y el pueblo hasta el mandato sobre el nuevo mes y Pesaj. \u00bfPara qu\u00e9 sirve este vers\u00edculo?<\/p>\n
A simple way to explain it is this: seeing the story from the outside, so to speak, since we are not in Egypt (literally), we find on one side the prophet of the Jewish people par excellence, who had already demonstrated that he had spoken with God and brought good news about liberation and, on the other side, an oppressed and tired people who knew that one day they would leave Egypt, since the patriarchs had promised so, but their weariness and exhaustion prevented them from realizing the incredible story that they themselves were starring in.<\/p>\n
Este vers\u00edculo nos muestra claramente nuestra propia situaci\u00f3n y actitud frente a la inminente Redenci\u00f3n Final: todas las se\u00f1ales que nuestros sabios dan en el Talmud de los d\u00edas de Mash\u00edaj est\u00e1n presentes en la sociedad actual, nuestros sabios nos hablan del tema y conectan los acontecimientos actuales con la venida de Mash\u00edaj, el Rebe, el l\u00edder de nuestra generaci\u00f3n constantemente hablaba de prepararse para la venida de Mash\u00edaj, al punto de dar el ejemplo de quien esta vestido para una fiesta y solamente le falta \u00abpulir los botones\u00bb, es decir, una \u00ednfima tarea previa a la fiesta propiamente dicha, \u00bfy nosotros?
