This Saturday is called Shabbat Shira, the Shabbat of Song.<\/p>\n
The Torah tells about the song that the Jewish people sang after their salvation from the hands of the Egyptians, after crossing the Yam Suf (Sea of Reeds).<\/p>\n
The song contains fundamental tenets of Judaism, such as the Resurrection of the Dead, the observance of Mitzvot in the form of embellishing the precept, the idea that God transcends nature, the construction of the Temple, and the Return to the Land of Israel with Messiah, among others.<\/p>\n
However, after the song, the Torah tells us that the women, led by Miriam, the sister of Moshe (who led the song for the men), also sang the same song, along with a choir of women.<\/p>\n
What's interesting is that on that occasion, the women not only sang the song but did so with "beTufim uBeMejolot"\u2014with drums and flutes. Commentators wonder where the women got the drums and flutes, considering that the Jewish people had fled Egypt, to the point that they couldn't even let the bread they had prepared for the journey rise because there wasn't enough time (and the time our sages determined it takes for dough made with flour and water to rise is 18 minutes...).<\/p>\n
Our sages explain that the women knew that great miracles would occur during the Jewish people's exodus from Egypt, so they prepared themselves with musical instruments to sing and praise God. Moreover, it was through the merit of the righteous women of the Jewish people that we were freed from slavery in Egypt.<\/p>\n
From this, it is clear that the intrinsic faith of Jewish women is far superior to that of men. It could be said that women have a deeper awareness of God's presence and influence in the world, and that this awareness has a much more visible effect. As explained in Kabbalah, the end (action, the practical) is linked to the beginning (to the highest spiritual levels).<\/p>\n
In Judaism, there is no power struggle between men and women.
