The word Tehillim comes from the word Tehil\u00e1, which means praise. Tehillim, or more commonly Psalms, are the hymns of praise written (mostly) by King David.<\/p>\n
However, this is not limited to praising God; it has a very special power. There are many stories about the power of reading Psalms, and it is recommended to do so on many occasions, such as after the morning prayer, on a wedding day, when a person is ill, when facing a difficult trial in life, and so on.<\/p>\n
Regarding the recitation of Psalms, the third Rebbe of Chabad (Rabbi Menachem Mendel, the Tzemach Tzedek) said: "If only you knew their power and effect in the highest of heights, you would spend every available moment reciting Psalms. Know that Psalms break down all barriers and rise ever higher, without interference, prostrating themselves before the Master of all, and produce benevolence and mercy.".<\/p>\n
Bearing this in mind (and entering a holiday season, where people generally have more time) I propose forming a Tehillim group, where each participant can recite some psalms for the general well-being of the Jewish people, bringing positive energy to the world in general and, in addition, where each one can recite psalms to help others, as far as possible, in their difficult situations both spiritual and material.<\/p>\n
It's as simple as registering (by clicking here) on the new Tehillim Club forum and writing the names of those who need help. Of course, just as we ask that Tehillim be read for our loved ones, the idea is that we also read for the loved ones of others!.<\/p>\n
It's very simple: before reciting (at least one chapter), we say that we are going to do it in honor of so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so, and we recite.<\/p>\n
Chapters 20, 23, 121, and 150 are appropriate, but it is always important to know that they all have equal power.<\/p>\n
