This morning an article appeared in the newspaper La Naci\u00f3n (The president of Iran and his opinion on the Holocaust are well known. This is not new, since his opinion regarding Judaism in general and Israel is also well known.)<\/p>\n
The sadly interesting aspect lies in two points: 1) a photo appears of the president alongside a group of Jewish men (evident from their attire); 2) the article itself mentions that Orthodox Jews participated in the conference (regarding the non-existence of the Holocaust).<\/p>\n
The reason I'm dedicating a few lines to writing about this matter is to make my complete disagreement with these kinds of people clear. Let me explain:<\/p>\n
Regardless of one's political stance, the Torah always prioritizes human life, respect for others, and, above all, love for one's neighbor. Meeting with a madman (such as the president of Iran) and smiling while he denies the Holocaust and speaks of the destruction of Israel (including its inhabitants, of course) is completely contrary to any principle of life and coexistence that the Torah might establish.<\/p>\n
I disagree with these people, and I'm sure the Lubavitch Rebbe didn't either.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, I also disagree with those who, out of ignorance, lump all Orthodox Jews together, arguing that they maintain relations with Iran, throw stones at non-religious people on Shabbat, and so on. It is essential to distinguish between those who seek life, meaning, and connection with God and those who seek the opposite.<\/p>\n
I want to count myself among the first type.<\/p>\n
