Society is governed by information. Whoever has the information succeeds. Whatever the field, whether it be economic competition, nuclear and physics research, or agricultural activity, information is fundamental.<\/p>\n
Because it is such a valuable resource, in many cases it is hidden and kept secret to gain advantages.<\/p>\n
However, from the perspective of the Torah, the opposite is true. Information is meant to be shared. More precisely, Torah information is meant to be disseminated. It makes no sense for a teacher to withhold their teachings regarding the observance of a particular mitzvah if doing so will prevent people from knowing how to fulfill that mitzvah.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the laws of Shabbat include the idea that a rabbi has an obligation to make it clear to his community that Shabbat may be disregarded in cases of life-threatening danger. We see that the Torah, so to speak, compels the sharing of information.<\/p>\n
