{"id":7424,"date":"2005-11-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2005-11-24T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jabadlaplata.org.ar\/sobre-rosas-y-espinas\/"},"modified":"2024-11-15T11:05:45","modified_gmt":"2024-11-15T14:05:45","slug":"sobre-rosas-y-espinas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tuviaserber.com\/en\/sobre-rosas-y-espinas\/","title":{"rendered":"About roses and thorns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we read in the Torah about how Eliezer, Abraham&#039;s servant, goes to find Rebekah, Nahor&#039;s daughter, to marry her to Isaac, Abraham&#039;s son.<\/p>\n<p>Our sages apply to Rivka a verse from the Song of Songs: &quot;Like a rose among thorns, so is my darling among daughters,&quot; where the idea is that Rivka was a saint (the rose) among people of bad faith (the thorns), and Eliezer rescued her to bring her to Isaac just before she was affected by her family.<\/p>\n<p>The teachings of the Torah are eternal, so it does not refer only to tales and stories, but to current and practical instructions for life.<\/p>\n<p>Just as Eliezer had to remove a rose (Rivka) from among the thorns, in the same way it is the task of parents to &quot;remove&quot; their children from among the thorns of society that constantly threatens the natural purity of children&#039;s hearts.<\/p>\n<p>All children are generally like roses: soft, pure, and delicate. They possess a natural faith in God, an integral part of their being. It is the responsibility of parents to safeguard this beauty, ensuring their children receive the best Jewish education, both inside and outside the home\u2014an education based on example and love for others.
