The other day someone asked me what I thought about the decline in congregants at religious services (in general, not just in Judaism). I replied that in Judaism we see the opposite; there's an increase in the number of people turning to the Torah to cling to our ancient and timeless traditions.<\/p>\n
It is interesting to note that in the Kedoshim section (one of this week's), there is a verse that supports this idea. It is in Leviticus 20:22, where it says: "And they shall keep all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them, and the land to which I am bringing them to settle shall not drive them away." This refers to the Land of Israel, which, because of its high sanctity, "does not tolerate" when the Jewish people do not respect God's laws and "drives them away.".<\/p>\n
Everyone knows that a massive return of Jews to the Holy Land began about 150 years ago. Now, if the Jewish people were not returning to their roots (and were simply moving from place to place), the Land would have expelled them again (as it did for so many years, during which the Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel was so severely impacted and reduced).<\/p>\n
This is a simple example of the truthfulness of the Torah (through the fulfillment of its prophecies) and of the overall improvement in the spiritual state of the Jewish people.<\/p>\n
