Although television is not explicitly mentioned in the Torah, there is no doubt that, according to the standards of good manners in general and Jewish manners in particular, television is a matter for discussion.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, most television programs are not good for children. Even if they watch cartoons, children will see characters hitting, shooting, or otherwise harming each other. This violence occurs without any reasonable explanation, and the victims rarely suffer pain or permanent damage. Both heroes and villains attack each other with lethal weapons and reappear to fight again.<\/p>\n
The message for children is clear: violence is an acceptable way to deal with problems and doesn't actually cause harm.<\/p>\n
It's worth mentioning that the same applies to the electronic games that children play: fighting, battles, etc...<\/p>\n
Rabbi Akiva used to say that love of neighbor is a great rule of the Torah, which doesn't leave much room for the expression of violence.<\/p>\n
