This Shabbat is called Shabbat Chazon \u2013 Vision. The reason for this is because the reading from the prophets that follows the Torah reading (the Haftarah) begins with the words Chazon Ishaiahu, the vision of Ishaiahu.<\/p>\n
However, our sages recount that during the night of this Shabbat, everyone has a vision, that of the Third Temple. Regarding this, there is an explanation from Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, of blessed memory, which goes something like this:<\/p>\n
A father gave his son a beautiful shirt. The son put on the shirt and went out to play in the woods. By the time he returned, the shirt was in tatters, as the son had not taken care of it as such a fine garment required. So the father gave him another shirt, even more beautiful than the first, and warned him to take care of it. But the boy neglected the shirt and tore it.<\/p>\n
Then the father made a third shirt, even more beautiful than the previous ones, put it in a wardrobe, showed it to his son, and said, "When you know how to take care of it, I will give it to you." And year after year the father opens the wardrobe, shows the beautiful shirt to his son, and says, "When you know how to take care of it, I will give it to you."\"<\/p>\n
This is how it was with the First and Second Temples. We didn't know how to care for them, and they were taken from us; we "broke them down," so to speak. Then God prepared a Third and eternal Temple, "preserved" it, and once a year shows us this awe-inspiring Divine structure. This is the Shabbat Chazon\u2014the vision.<\/p>\n
It depends on us whether God gives us the Temple and redeems us from our exile, diaspora or otherwise.
