Acabamos de leer, la semana pasada, en la Parsh\u00e1 de Itr\u00f3, sobre la entrega de la Tor\u00e1 en el Monte Sina\u00ed con voces y rel\u00e1mpagos. Ahora queremos saber qu\u00e9 es lo que contiene esta Tor\u00e1, entregada desde el Cielo en un evento tan estruendoso. Comenzamos a estudiar esta semana sobre los preceptos entregados en Sinai y \u00bfqu\u00e9 vemos?: ‘Leyes’- preceptos simples y b\u00e1sicos, que hacen a la relaci\u00f3n del hombre con su pr\u00f3jimo, instrucciones que nuestra propia l\u00f3gica dicta seguir incluso sin un mandato de la Tor\u00e1 de por medio.Los p\u00e1rrafos de Itr\u00f3 y Mishpatim representan, a simple vista, dos extremos opuestos: En la Parsh\u00e1 Itr\u00f3 leemos sobre la revelaci\u00f3n Divina, sobrenatural, celestial, la supra racional. Mientras que en el p\u00e1rrafo de Mishpatim se habla de temas terrenales, cotidianos, asuntos que tambi\u00e9n comprende la l\u00f3gica del hombre simple.<\/p>\n
TRUE UNITY<\/p>\n
From a deeper perspective, these two Parashiot, whose content is so opposite, are precisely two complementary stages in the extraordinary innovation brought about by the giving of the Torah. The objective of the Sinai event was to eliminate the existing gap between the world of the spirit and material reality, and to introduce Torah and holiness literally into the heart of the world; to unify spirit with matter.<\/p>\n
The principle here lies in the fact that Divine holiness does not displace, annul, or break earthly reality, but rather that earthly reality endures as it is, in its character as a material existence bound to the limitations of this world, and that Supernal Holiness dwells there alongside it. This is the true union of spirit with matter.<\/p>\n
DISMANTLING THE STRUCTURES<\/p>\n
La primera etapa de uni\u00f3n entre el esp\u00edritu y la materia es la descripta, en el p\u00e1rrafo de Itr\u00f3: Y descendi\u00f3 Di-s sobre el Monte Sina\u00ed\u00bb1- la extraordinaria revelaci\u00f3n Divina. Voces y rel\u00e1mpagos, un terrible temblor que conmovi\u00f3 al mundo todo. En las palabras del Midrash2: \u00abel p\u00e1jaro no grit\u00f3, el ave no vol\u00f3, el toro no mugi\u00f3… el mundo estaba callado y silencioso\u00bb En el pueblo jud\u00edo, esta revelaci\u00f3n Divina caus\u00f3 una profunda anulaci\u00f3n, al punto que escaparon del Monte y se pararon a lo lejos. \u00c9sa fue la primera parte- Hashem descendi\u00f3 aqu\u00ed ‘abajo’.<\/p>\n
Pero el objetivo es, como se dijo, que este mundo no anule su ser, sino que prosiga funcionando como un mundo material- pero siendo un instrumento al servicio de la Santidad. Por ello fue necesaria la segunda etapa, la desarrollada en Parshat Mishpatim: este p\u00e1rrafo, que trata sobre las leyes monetarias y de da\u00f1os y perjuicios, los temas realmente mundanos, ense\u00f1a c\u00f3mo debe cumplir el jud\u00edo los preceptos de Di-s dentro de su vida terrenal. Justamente son los mandamientos ‘sencillos’ y l\u00f3gicos enumerados en esta Parsh\u00e1, los que indican el camino a trav\u00e9s del cual la santidad se enviste en el mundo, se acomoda en \u00e9l, hasta convertirse en parte del mismo.<\/p>\n
FAITH AS A FOUNDATION<\/p>\n
The Parashah of Mishpatim teaches us that holiness is not limited to absolute self-annihilation and self-elevation beyond earthly life. On the contrary, holiness also manifests itself in the small things of daily life when they are carried out according to the Torah's commandments, such as compensating the injured party, treating valuables entrusted to safekeeping with care, paying wages on time, and so on. This is how to create true communion between Divine Holiness and practical, material life.<\/p>\n
But for a Jew to possess this power to introduce holiness into the heart of daily life, the stage of the Parashah of Yitro\u2014the supernatural Divine revelation\u2014is required. The foundation of everything is faith and absolute submission to Hashem. Only as a continuation of this is one able to sanctify everyday life as well.<\/p>\n
