In this chapter the Alter Rebbe continues to develop the example he began in the previous chapter.<\/p>\n
In point 2 of the relationship between the soul and the body (from the previous chapter), the Alter Rebbe said that the primary place where the soul reveals itself in the body is in the brain. Similarly, it occurs with \u201cThe Infinite Light\u201d: the primary level where the overall energy projection of Hashem<\/i> to give life to the worlds and all creatures is in the Divine \u201cbrain\u201d, that is, in the levels of Will (rat<\/i>), Wisdom (Chokhmah<\/i>), the Understanding (bin\u00e1<\/i>) and Understanding (daat<\/i>) of the world of Emanation (atzilut<\/i>) (see chapter 39 for an explanation of the spiritual worlds).<\/p>\n
In turn, this level of Divine \u201cbrain\u201d is within the Torah<\/i> and the Mitzvot<\/i>. Hashem<\/i>, Wanting a law to be a certain way constitutes the level of Will. Knowing and understanding the reasons for the Mitzvot<\/i> It is represented by the levels of Wisdom and Understanding.<\/p>\n
Then, the Divine \u201cbrain\u201d level manifests itself, that is, it reveals itself through another level called Reign (Maljut<\/i>This level is responsible for giving each world and each creature the vitality necessary to function according to its task. It is like point 3 of the relationship between the soul and the body from the previous chapter. This is what our sages generally call the \u201cPresence\u201d of Hashem <\/i>(Shekhinah<\/i>).<\/p>\n
But it doesn't end there. The energy of His "Presence" is so powerful that it cannot reveal itself as it truly is in the worlds, because they could not withstand it. Therefore, Hashem<\/i> He hides His \u201cPresence\u201d in a kind of clothing that allows Him to manifest Himself in all worlds, in each one according to His capacity.<\/p>\n
And what does this clothing consist of? If His \u201cPresence\u201d is the source of life for all worlds, what could this revelation possibly conceal? Hashem<\/i>Obviously something higher than His \u201cPresence\u201d itself. That is the Will, the Wisdom, and the Understanding of Hashem<\/i> that are within the Torah<\/i> and their Mitzvot<\/i>.<\/p>\n
But here a logical problem arises. If the worlds cannot withstand the revelation of the \u201cPresence\u201d of Hashem<\/i>, How could they possibly endure something even greater, the revelation of His Divine \u201cbrain\u201d (Wisdom, Understanding, and Comprehension)? That is why the Alter Rebbe explains that the Torah<\/i> and their Mitzvot<\/i> They descend to this world until they materialize, and in each world they reveal themselves in a way that that world can bear, carrying within them, though hidden, the "Presence" of Hashem<\/i> (Shekhinah<\/i>).<\/p>\n
The Alter Rebbe then explains in detail how the descent of the Torah<\/i> from its source, in the Wisdom of the world of Emanation, to this material world carrying with it His \u201cPresence\u201d.<\/p>\n
But to understand this idea, it's important to first know that each world has a different "brain." That is, the level of Wisdom in the world of Emanation is not the same as the levels of Wisdom in the worlds of Creation, Formation, or Action. However, they have in common that, in each of these worlds, there are levels of Wisdom, Understanding, and Comprehension (see Chapter 3 for more on these levels), a Divine "brain" that corresponds to that world.<\/p>\n
So that's how it goes down Torah<\/i> with His \u201cPresence\u201d: first arises in the \u201cbrain\u201d of the world of Emanation and invests Himself in the Reign (Maljut<\/i>) of that world. Then the Reign of the world of Emanation is invested in the \u201cbrain\u201d of the world of Creation, and then descends to the Reign of that world. Then the Reign of the world of Creation is invested in the \u201cbrain\u201d of the world of Formation, and then descends to the Reign of that world. Then, the Reign of the world of Formation is invested in the \u201cbrain\u201d of the world of Action.<\/p>\n
In that descent, the spiritual sources of the different parts of the Torah<\/i>: he Talmud<\/i> It arises in the "brain" of the world of Creation, because in that world one feels that one can understand Hashem<\/i> And that's what it's all about. Talmud<\/i>, the reasoning and the whys of each Mitzvah<\/i>, the idea of understanding.<\/p>\n
The Mishnah<\/i> It arises from the "brain" of the world of Formation, because in that world there is both love and fear of Hashem<\/i>, not intellect, but emotions, and that's what laws are about (halakhot<\/i>) of the Torah<\/i> And the Mishnah, settled laws, what can and cannot be done, without reasoning. What can be done arises from the Divine quality of Goodness, and what cannot be done arises from the Divine quality of Severity.<\/p>\n
Through the \u201cPresence\u201d of Hashem<\/i> It descends and is invested in the "brain" of each world, projecting vitality and energy to all creatures, such as angels and souls of that particular world.
