In this parashah, the Torah tells us that it is a mitzvah to lend money to those in need. Beyond that that That's what the Torah asks of us, that we lend money; there's a story that teaches us this. as We must lend it:
The Third Rebbe of Lubavitch, the Tzemach Tzedek, was walking towards the synagogue one morning when he met a Hasid, Reb Pinchas, who asked him for a loan.
"I'd be happy to lend you the money," the Tzemach Tzedek told him. "Please come by my house immediately after the prayer.""
The Tzemach Tzedek continued walking towards the synagogue and prepared to pray, but as he put on his tallit, he remembered that it was a market day in the city.
"Reb Pinchas probably needs the loan to start his business today. The sooner he has the money, the more successful his business will be. I have to give him the money immediately," thought the Tzemach Tzedek. He took off his tallit and ran home to get the money. Then he hurried to the market, found Reb Pinchas, gave him the loan, and ran back to the synagogue. As he was washing his hands in preparation for prayer, his grandfather, the Alter Rebbe, appeared to him in a vision. The Tzemach Tzedek had been hoping for such a vision for a long time, and in merit of as He fulfilled the mitzvah of lending to a needy person; he had it.
We must help our neighbor according to what our neighbor needs, not according to our convenience.
