Dear Kehilá:

We are known as "The Book People".

In every generation since the beginning of the diasporic exile (approximately 555 BCE) and in every place we settled, there is one thing that accompanied and cared for us generation after generation and place after place: the Torah.

The strength with which the Jewish people clung to the Torah defined us as "The People of the Book.".

In the spirit of continuing to hold fast to that which keeps us united as am echad (one people), where the meaning is not only that we are one people, but also that we are the people of the One, a "nation of priests" of God, we proudly announce the inauguration of the Beit Chabad La Plata Library.

This is a library with over 150 volumes on various aspects of Judaism in Spanish. Books can be borrowed by becoming a member.

It goes without saying that what characterized us as "The People of the Book" is not only that we carry it everywhere generation after generation, but that we also study it.

I invite all those interested in the continuity of our town in general and our La Plata community in particular, to participate in this new community project, either by removing or adding books to the library.
