«"Here it is," the father said, handing his son a package. "I made it especially for you." The son opened the package to find a beautiful jacket. The size, color, and design were perfect. The son was overjoyed with the gift and wore it with pride. It always reminded him how much his father loved him.
One day the son ruined the sack; it couldn't be mended. With tears in his eyes and a broken heart, he turned to his father. The loving father forgave him. Soon he gave his son a new sack that was just as beautiful as the first. The son was very grateful and took good care of the gift. He didn't ruin it like the first one.
But time passed, and the second sack also became dirty and torn. The son was very worried when he saw that he could no longer put the sack on. "How many times will my father forgive me?" he thought.
«"I have a third suit for you," the father said after seeing what had happened. "But this time, I'm going to wait. I won't give it to you until you're ready for it. In the meantime, even though you can't wear the suit, I'll show it to you from time to time, so you can see what's waiting for you.".
This story is a parable. What is the sack? Who are the father and the son?
Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev told this parable on the Shabbat before Tisha B'Av—the ninth of Av—the day of the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. Chazon means vision. HaShem, our Father, allows His son, the Jewish people, to look upon the sack, the Third Temple.
Just like the Father, HaShem is waiting to see when we will be ready to receive the gift. We are preparing ourselves and the world around us. We want Messiah to come now and build the Third Order. Beit HaMikdash – Temple. We must do our best to show HaShem that we are ready.
