There are three disciplines (or schools of thought):
The discipline of the annulment of matter through the teaching of the abominable and despicable nature of corporeal and material affairs: the wisdom of Musar, ethics.
The discipline of recognizing the virtues of form and spirituality in emotions and intellect, and the teaching of ways to approach them: the wisdom of Jakira, philosophy.
The discipline of the predominance of form over matter, the teaching of the virtues of refined matter and the virtues of form when fixed in matter, their combination without beginning or end, since the beginning is linked to the end and the end to the beginning. The same God created them (form and matter) with the same intention: to reveal the light of the Holiness of His hidden power. Precisely both together complete that perfection which arose in His will: the wisdom of Hasidism.

שלש חכמות הן: חכמת ביטול החומר, ע"י [על ידי] הוראת שקוץ ותיעוב כל ענינים הגופניים והחומריים - חכמת המוסר.
חכמת הכרת מעלת הצורה והרוחני במדות ובמושכלות והוראת אופני הקירוב אליהם - חכמת החקירה.
חכמת הגברת הצורה על החומר, הוראה במעלת חומר מזוכך ובמעלת הצורה להיות כי נעוץ תחלתן בסופן וסופן בתחלתן, אל אחד בראם, ולכוונה אחת לגלות אור קדושת חביון עוזו יתברך נבראו, ושניהם כאחד דוקא משלימים אותה השלימות, אשר עלה ברצונו יתברך - חכמת תורת החסידות.
