Tolerance doesn't mean watching someone harm themselves and saying, "Live and let live." That's indifference. Apathy. If you see someone going down the wrong path and you care about that person, you'll do everything you can to set them on the right path.

Tolerance means that, even though you see their faults in all their ugliness right in front of you, that does not diminish in the slightest your respect for that person as a human being, and respect for all the good they carry within.

And if you say: How can I live a life of paradox, respecting and rebuking at the same time?

Let me ask you: Do you have flaws? Do you not respect yourself despite them?

If you can live a paradoxical life, at least give that privilege to your neighbor.
