Regardless of the reason, some people are emotionally more vulnerable than others. The Torah repeatedly states that we must be careful with our words toward a widow, an orphan, and an immigrant. Men are advised to speak sensitively to their wives. "The gates of prayer may sometimes close, but never those of tears.".
Examples of verbal aggression include reminding someone of an unpleasant past event, insulting them, publicly shaming them, or asking about the price of something you don't want to buy.
""It is better to throw oneself into a fiery furnace than to publicly shame another," says the Talmud. If you have a problem with someone, deal with it privately. Being open and seeking a sensible solution is the best course of action. When possible, simply forgive and move on with your life.
