We are currently in the month of Iar of the calendar.
Our sages explain that the letters that make up the name of this month correspond to a very particular verse in the Torah. Iyar is written Alef, Yud, Reish, being the initials of the words of the verse "Ani HaShem Rofecha" - "I am God your healer.""
The Talmud explains that the source of life, and therefore of healing, is God. However, He gives physicians the "permission" and the ability to apply and make this healing effective.
Even so, there is a fundamental difference between medical healing and divine healing: a doctor heals from this point forward, meaning the person was sick, and the doctor "made" them stop being sick (with treatments, medications, etc.). Divine healing works in such a way that it functions as if the person had never had the illness.
The special power to achieve such a cure lies within the verse itself. God's essence transcends time and is not bound by it. Therefore, He has the power to heal us in such a way that the illness never existed.
That is the meaning of this month's name: Iar. May all those who need healing receive it quickly, and may we soon reach the cure of all cures, the Final Redemption.
