We Jews have a reputation for being intelligent. In fact, we have been a people of books for over 4,000 years. This means many books and wisdom. What kind of wisdom? There are the basic dos and don'ts. Then there are the stories and legends, and finally, there is the truly profound wisdom of the "what life is all about" kind, which includes the secrets of Kabbalah and Hasidism. It is all available to you; in fact, it is your personal inheritance. It is called Torah.
The word Torah shares its etymology with the word orah, "light": its teachings illuminate the matters of life and show you which path to take. Studying it is a mitzvah, and indeed one of the most important.
We study Torah continuously: 24/7/365. We pause to eat, sleep, earn a living, and rest. The rest of the time we connect with God through the study of His wisdom. The minimum study requirement is once in the morning and once in the evening. If you cannot study as much as you would like, you can support a Jewish institution where Torah is studied.
Everyone is obligated to study Torah. If you have limited time, begin with the more practical laws of daily life.
