Summary of parashat Sukkot

The reading from Sukkot details the laws of the Moadim, The special moments in the Jewish calendar that involve a celebration of our union with God; including the precepts of dwelling in a Sukkah (a booth roofed with leaves and branches) and taking the Four Species on the festival of Sukkot; the offerings brought to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem during the festival of Sukkot; and the obligation to travel to the Temple to "see and be seen before God" on the three annual festivals and pilgrimages: Pesach, Shavuot, and Sukkot.

During the intervening days (Jol HaMoed) it reads about the offerings that were brought in these days to the Temple of Jerusalem (Bamidbar 26:17-35).
