This year what the Torah says about Yom Kippur was fulfilled, “Shabbat Shabbat”"A double Shabbat: in addition to being Shabbat, it was also Yom Kippur. Of course, the volume of Yom Kippur prayers meant that those of Shabbat were reduced to mere mentions here and there, but the spirit that is lived every Shabbat in the Chabad House did not change.".
With prayer books in phonetic script and Spanish, people participated in each chant with fervor and enthusiasm. The solemnity of the day was mingled with the friendship, camaraderie, and comfort that people experience at Beit Chabad.
Each of the reflections throughout the day, short reflections during prayer and some more extended ones at special moments, was aimed at taking advantage of the holiness of the day, the available divine energy, to achieve personal growth and a closer relationship with God.
Even at the end, after a whole day of fasting, the people joyfully sang the melodies of Neilá, asking for a good and sweet year for all the Jewish people before the gates of heaven close.
