A person is obligated to say: "The whole world was created for love of me" (Talmud, Sanhedrin 37a).
For a child, this is obvious. He or she is the center of the world. Father, mother, and the rest of the universe exist merely to meet his or her needs.
The undesirable aspects of this attitude are evident. Eliminating the negative parts of basic human instincts is called "education." However, a child's egocentric instinct also has a positive side. A child lacks the capacity to grasp the insignificance of their own "self" compared to the billions of other human beings in the vastness of the universe. They are deeply convinced that their existence has meaning and their actions have consequences."
