Self-pity is nothing more than an impulse toward self-destruction. And this is its script:

""This is the way you were made. These are the facts of your situation. It's bad. Worse than anyone else in the world. In fact, it's so bad that it's impossible to do anything about it. And therefore, you are free from any responsibility to improve it. No one can blame you for anything.""

Self-pity is a liar and a thief. A liar because everyone has the power to improve their own situation, if only they try. A thief, because while it's inside you, it's stealing the days of your life.
