We are not Jews by choice. We are not circumcised by choice; it is done to us before we can even ask. Nor were we asked if we wanted to be bound by all those mitzvahs since Mount Sinai. Even those who join us do so because something internal compels them to.
If we were Jewish because our minds and hearts told us to be, then our Judaism would take us as far as our minds and hearts can know. But we are not. Therefore, our journey is on the wings of eagles, and our destination lies beyond the stars.
