No one can know their true motivations.
He may be kind because kindness brings him pleasure.
He can be wise because wisdom is music to his soul.
He can become a martyr burned at the stake because his nature is to defy, his nature is to be fire.
How can you tell if your motivations are truly sincere? Only when it's not part of your nature to do that particular thing.
