In this week's parasha we learn about Mishkan, the sanctuary that God commanded to build to live inside him.
Our sages tell us that at the beginning of creation, the divine presence filled the earth. Adam, the first man could feel around his.
However, seven generations that sinned and made God ceased to be revealed in the earth. Adam, Kain, Enosh, the generation of the flood, the generation of the Bavel tower, the people of Sedom and the Egyptians in the time of Avraham.
Later, seven generations of Tzadikim, righteous men, brought the divine presence to Earth. Avraham, Itzjak, Iaacov, Levi, Kehat, Amram and Moshe.
It is with the construction of the Mishkan that said God dated again on earth.
The function of the Jewish people is to make the world a abode for God through the observance of Mitzvot and the study of Torah.
This does not mean that we must bring to the world something that was never here. The initial place where God was, God's garden is the world. We just have to take care of returning to God His place.
